Man City may have dropped transfer hint after Pep Guardiola reveal – pundit

Alan Hutton has suggested Man City could re-enter the transfer market in order to keep fans happy.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said Pep Guardiola will always want to improve but insisted City are “looking very strong” at the moment.

Last Saturday (31 July), Pep Guardiola’s side lost 3-1 to Liverpool in the FA Community Shield.

As quoted by The Guardian (31 July), speaking after the loss, Guardiola said his side are “closer” to being ready for a title defence.

The Sky Blues bounced back with a 2-0 win over West Ham in their opening Premier League game on Sunday (7 August).

New recruit Erling Haaland netted both goals after being named in the starting line-up for the match.

When asked if Guardiola’s comments hinted at more signings, Hutton told Football Insider: “They never close doors, they never burn bridges just in case.

The window is still open for a period of time still and you never know what can happen between now and then, injuries and things like that. So they’ll always be on the look out.

Managers are never happy, they always want to get better, they always want people through the door. It makes the fans happy as well so I think they’ll always be on the look out but they’re looking very strong.

With Haaland, he’s going to be a right hit this season so I believe they’re in a good place.
