Man City news: Gabriel Jesus will be ‘fuming’ after he’s axed – pundit

Gabriel Jesus will be “fuming” after his latest snub at Man City, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker insisted he did not understand why the 24-year-old was left on the bench during Man City’s 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace on Monday night (14 March).

With his side lacking a clinical edge, Pep Guardiola decided not to use any substitutes at Selhurst Park.

As quoted by the Manchester Evening News on Tuesday (15 March), he admitted he considered bringing on Ilkay Gundogan and Jesus to try and break the deadlock.

Curiously, he did not mention Raheem Sterling who was also on the bench.

“His lack of game time at the moment won’t worry Sterling too much because he’ll know there will be many clubs that will want his signature,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“But I do feel when you need a goal, I don’t understand why Gabriel Jesus didn’t get brought on? If I’m a striker on the bench, with no subs made, I’m fuming.

“It was very strange from Pep. I know they were creating chances but at Crystal Palace, it’s a very tight pitch, sometimes you just need a poacher who can nick a goal.

“I thought it was a game where Gabriel Jesus should have been brought on.”

Jesus has six goals in 28 games across all competitions this season, including 18 starts.

The Brazilian and Sterling are both out of contract at the Etihad at the end of next season.
