Man City news: Jack Grealish slammed for ‘crossing the line’ as ‘disrespectful’ footage emerges – pundit
Noel Whelan has slammed Jack Grealish for taking a swipe at Newcastle United star Miguel Almiron during the title celebrations at Man City.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds striker insisted the 26-year-old “crossed the line” with his comments.
In footage captured during Bernardo Silva’s Instagram Live video during City’s title celebrations, as relayed by the Mirror on Twitter (24 May), Grealish mocked Almiron when aiming a dig at Riyad Mahrez.
The England international insisted the Algerian should have been “taken off the pitch as soon as possible” against Aston Villa because he “played like Almiron”.
Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “When it comes to your own teammates, if you feel you’re in the right environment to have a little bit of a dig and poke a bit of fun, absolutely.
“I think when you cross line onto another player at another team, that’s where respect should come into play. He’s got no reason to be talking about another player that he doesn’t play with, that he’s not friends with.
“That is down to lack of respect and again, it’s not the first time he’s done things that he shouldn’t have done.
“This is something I felt you shouldn’t have said. I do feel that if he’s not in your team, you’ve got no right talking about another player like that. He needs to keep his opinions to himself when it comes to other players.”

Grealish played 39 times across all competitions during his first season at City.
He scored six goals and contributed four assists.
