Man City news: Pundit issues ‘honest’ Kevin De Bruyne claim as new details emerge – ‘I wasn’t expecting it’
Alan Hutton has hailed Man City star Kevin De Bruyne for his honesty.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender was surprised by some of De Bruyne’s comments.
As quoted by the Guardian (26 November), the 31-year-old said his national side Belgium have “no chance” of winning the World Cup.
The midfielder insisted his country’s chance was in 2018 and his side now face an uphill battle to qualify for the knockouts.
The City vice-captain views the Belgians as outsiders of the competition but insisted his side will try to win and “see what happens”.
When asked if he was surprised by De Bruyne’s comments, Hutton told Football Insider: “I think if you flip it round he is just telling the truth really.
“You do not normally get that from a lot of footballers where they just come out and be open and honest. I think he is right, their opportunity to win something was maybe the last World Cup four years ago.

“They have got an ageing defence, they have got problems in the striking department. They are relying on people like [Eden] Hazard who has not played a lot of football with injury.
“It is difficult for them coming up against some of the best nations. There is a lot of emotion when you get interviewed after games so that could have been part of it as well. I was not expecting it but he was very open and honest.“
In other news, a pundit has suggested Bernardo Silva has rejected Man City offer to sign for new club.
