Man City news: Pundit issues ‘massive’ Liverpool claim after Bernardo Silva reveal via Sky

Bernardo Silva “quite rightly” alluded to the fact Man City are still in pole position to win the Premier League after Monday’s stalemate at Crystal Palace, according to Paul Robinson.

The former Tottenham and England number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted “it’s a massive challenge” for Liverpool to go to the Etihad and win next month.

Pep Guardiola’s side dropped two points at Selhurst Park to give Liverpool the opportunity to close the gap to just one point at the summit of the table.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the draw (14 March), Bernardo Silva said “it’s better to be in our position” when quizzed on Jurgen Klopp’s side’s threat.

The attacking midfielder pointed to the fact Liverpool have to travel to the Etihad on 10 April.

When asked by Football Insider if the pressure appeared to be getting to City’s players, Robinson said: “No, no.

“Bernardo Silva quite rightly pointed out that Liverpool still have to go to the Etihad. Make no mistake about it, Man City are still in the driving seat.

“I don’t think Guardiola will be disappointed with the performance against Palace. They just missed that cutting edge in front of goal, as they have done at times this season.

“We talk about City lacking cutting edge and then the next week they will put six past someone. You cannot level a lack of goals at City this season.

“It’s unfair to suggest they are feeling the pressure. They are in pole position to win the title.

“It’s a massive challenge for Liverpool to go and win at the Etihad. Bernardo Silva knows that and that’s why he said it.”
