Man City news: Pundit makes ‘massive’ Erling Haaland prediction after source reveal
Erling Haaland could be the “difference-maker” for Man City in the Champions League, according to Kevin Campbell.
The former Arsenal striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the Citizens must be “in the running” for the 21-year-old phenom this summer.
As revealed by this site on Saturday (12 February), Man City are in pole position to sign Dortmund star Haaland this summer with his father, Alf-Inge, pushing for a move to the Etihad.
A Citizens source has told Football Insider the club and manager Pep Guardiola are big admirers of the Norweigan and they will be supported by the Abu Dhabi owners in a concerted pursuit.
Haaland will be available for £68million in the summer window due to a release clause in his Borussia Dortmund contract.
Campbell insisted that figure will be “nothing” for mega-rich Man City.
He told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury: “For me, you just have to be in the running for someone like Haaland if that opportunity comes up.
“You have to.
“Whether you get him or not, that’s irrelevant. You’re in the same boat as all the other big clubs that’ll be in for him.
“He could be that massive difference-maker for them in the Champions League, as well as someone who could get 30 goals a season in the league.
“I’m sure they’ll be already looking at that. And £68million is nothing to them, they’ll be champing at the bit to discuss a deal already.”

Haaland has netted an incredible 80 goals in 79 games since joining Dortmund in 2020.
The Norway international has missed 13 games through injury this term.
