Man City news: Pundit shares verdict on Bernardo Silva joining Real Madrid amid fresh quotes

Man City are in no rush to sell Bernardo Silva amid fresh speculation over his future.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Portugal international’s future.

As quoted by The Sun after Portugal’s win over the Czech Republic (8 June) Silva, 27, has refused to commit his future to City.

Upon being asked about his future, the attacker claims “when the season ends, we’ll see what happens”.

Barcelona and Real Madrid have been credited with an interest in Silva, who is under contract at The Etihad until the summer of 2025.

However, Kenny claims Man City will be in no rush to sell the attacker.

“Everyone knows Man City don’t need to sell,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Silva has also just played a massive part in Man City winning the Premier League. Barcelona keep being linked with everyone but they can’t afford to sign anyone.

“Real Madrid, that’s a fresh start for him. They are on a high having just won the Champions League and La Liga.

“He is still a quality player and he could still play a big role for Man City further down the line so I think they will want to keep him.”

Silva made 50 appearances for Manchester City in all competitions during the 2021-22 season.

He scored 13 goals and chipped in with 13 assists.
