‘Man City plot shock move to sign Donnarumma after Ederson reveal’

Man City have considered Paris Saint-Germain star Gianluigi Donnarumma among their options to replace Ederson if he leaves this summer.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 26-year-old is regarded as one of the top three goalkeepers in the world.

Donnarumma is one of several targets being eyed by Pep Guardiola’s side as the aim to strengthen the position as part of a summer overhaul.

However, the 26-year-old is very happy in Paris, having played a significant role in leading them to the Champions League final, while he remains a regular international for Italy.

As a result, there is a belief that City would have to offer him higher wages than his current £208,000-per-week [GOAL] to tempt him to move to England.

This comes after Football Insider revealed on 20 April that Ederson is likely to quit Man City amid interest from a number of Saudi Pro League outfits.

Man City plot Gianluigi Donnarumma swoop

Football Insider revealed last month that Man City want to sign a long-term goalkeeper to make the position his own for the foreseeable future.

Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted Donnarumma ticks several boxes for City, but a deal may be difficult to complete.

Donnarumma is at the very top of his game at PSG,” he told Football Insider.

“He’s happy there, playing a key role in getting them to the Champions League final, and he’s a regular for Italy as well.

“So the only thing that’s going to make him move away from there is money – they’d have to offer him an increase on what he’s on at PSG.

“It would be up to Man City to come up with that offer and make that move happen, a move that would rank as a shock in some quarters.

“He’s not the only goalkeeper they’ve been looking at, but he’s definitely a target.

“He’s one of the top three in the world, as far as I’m concerned, so of course he’ll be on their list.

“That’s the type of player Man City want to bring in, they have a few positions they want to improve and they want to bring in the best players for those positions.

Pep Guardiola eyes Morgan Gibbs-White deal after Forest latest

A new goalkeeper is not the only target for Guardiola’s side this summer, as they will look to replace Kevin de Bruyne following his imminent departure.

Football Insider revealed on 10 May that Morgan Gibbs-White wants to join City and Forest may be powerless to resist should they make a move.

Sources say the midfielder wants to work under Guardiola, although Forest will not let him leave without a fight as they prepare to compete in Europe next season.

This comes after Football Insider revealed Gibbs-White is a key target for City alongside three alternative options to replace De Bruyne.
