Kieran Maguire salutes Man City as money-spinning deal agreed – ‘only they could do this’

Man City deserve credit for their continued use of high-tech solutions to drive revenue and improve the matchday experience.

That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the reigning Premier League champions’ latest innovative scheme.

It was announced on Tuesday (6 December) that American communications platform Cisco to roll out a new AI-powered crowd intelligence platform at the Etihad Stadium.

The technology, which is the first of its kind in the Premier League, will allow the club to access real-time data on crowd density and traffic.

Maguire claims that City can use the platform to help drive matchday income, with better data insights allowing the club to drive merchandise and catering sales.

The more you know about your fans, the more you can convert that knowledge into cash,” he told Football Insider’s Adam William.

“This AI platform will identify gaps and surges in terms of interest in terms of the supporters who attend matches in person.

“They could introduce dynamic pricing to persuade people to stay on the concourse or sell merchandise tailored to specific games.

There are two issues here. One is the production of data and there is also knowing how to use that data in terms of converting it into cash.

If there is one club in the Premier League that can do this, it’s Man City. They have invested vast sums in trying to get to know its fanbase better.

In other news, Man City owners working on “dream” deal almost 10 years in the making.
