Kieran Maguire: ‘We have underestimated Man City’ amid £1.1bn finance reveal
The strength of the Man City brand has long been underestimated.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about City’s commercial appeal on the global stage.
Annual analysis from industry experts Brand Directory shows that City’s brand value is now second only to Real Madrid’s in world football.

The figures, which were published on Wednesday (25 May), showed that City’s brand is worth £1.1billion and has risen by 13 per cent over the last year alone.
Pep Guardiola’s side have now won four of the last five Premier League titles, playing a high-risk, high-reward brand of football along the way.
And Maguire insists that their style on the pitch is integral to their commercial success off it.
“I think we perhaps we have actually underestimated City’s appeal in specific global markets,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“Their success and style of football are amazing. They are a different style of football to Liverpool but still fascinating to watch.
“This is the third time they have won the title on the final day, and they have had to become from behind on all of those occasions.
“People like the fact they are a team full of character. That is very alluring, particularly to international markets.”

City were world football’s biggest revenue generators in 2020-21.
They turned over almost £570m, with commercial income accounting for £217.6m of that figure.
