Man City set for ‘massive’ Phil Foden boost after latest – pundit
Phil Foden’s performances for England at the World Cup will give Man City a “massive” boost when he returns, according to Noel Whelan.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Premier League forward hailed Foden, alongside Jude Bellingham, as “one of the best young British talents”.
Foden has started England’s last two World Cup games and provided two assists in the 3-0 win over Senegal in the round of 16 last week (4 December).
As quoted by the national team’s media on Friday (9 December), the 22-year-old described his first major tournament goal against Wales in the group as “surreal”.
Asked whether Foden will have received a boost by the praise he has received, Whelan told Football Insider correspondent Charlotte Cohen: “It’s massive.
“This is where you want to do it, on the World stage whether it’s the World Cup or Champions League. We’ve seen that he’s done in both.
“We know that he’s an exceptional talent, alongside Bellingham, one of the best young British talents that we’ve got.
“He’s got a massive future ahead of him. He’s getting the right guidance from club and country.
“Yes, he’s probably not got as much game time as people probably thought but that’s just the competition for places that England have and that’s why they are one of the favourites for the World Cup.

“There’s no doubt he’ll be going to a lot more World Cups, he’s going to have a massive part to play.
“I think he’ll go back to Man City in an even better place raring to go in his mind.”
In other news, the Man City owners are working on a “dream” deal almost 10 years in the making.
