Man City star Jack Grealish bids farewell after confirmed retirement news
Man City star Jack Grealish took to social media to bid farewell to former teammate James Chester after his recent retirement.
Chester, 36, announced his retirement on social media, calling time on a career that has seen him play for Hull City and Aston Villa and earn 35 international caps for Wales.
The centre-back joined League Two side Salford City after being released by Barrow last summer but made just two appearances across all competitions this season.
Both Chester and Grealish, 29, spent four years together at Villa, earning promotion back to the Premier League in 2018-19 with a 2-1 play-off final win over Derby.
Villa have come a long way since then, qualifying for the Champions League last season and luring players like Marcus Rashford away from Man United.
Finance expert Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider that Villa are pushing the limits of PSR after their busy January window, and will likely have to sell players in the summer.
Jack Grealish wishes James Chester a happy retirement as Man City struggles continue
Grealish has struggled to make any real impact for City, starting 13 of his 24 games across all competitions, scoring two goals, and providing five assists in his 1228 minutes of action.
The winger took to Instagram to wish his former teammate a happy retirement, saying: “Happy retirement brother! What a captain you was! All the best for whatever is next Chezy.”

Grealish picked up an injury in City’s 3-2 Champions League defeat to Real Madrid on Tuesday (February 11) but is hoping to return for the second leg next week.
Guardiola’s side have a Premier League clash with Newcastle to contend with between now and then, with the two sides facing off on Saturday (February 15).
