Man City star Jack Grealish issues Aston Villa ‘doubt’ post

Jack Grealish has been reminiscing about a standout moment from his Aston Villa career prior to his move to Man City.

Having come through the club’s academy, the attacker enjoyed an excellent period with the club after stepping up to senior level.

Between 2012 and 2021 Grealish made 213 appearances in all competitions for the Villains, scoring 32 goals.

One of the best of those was a stunning first-team volley from a corner which he met the edge of the area in a 4-0 thrashing of Derby by Aston Villa in March 2019.

After the EFL posted a clip of the goal on their Instagram page, Glenn Whelan – who provided the assist for it with a corner, shared that on his story along with the caption: “You stand edge of the box don’t move I’ll find you Jack Grealish Helllloooooo”.

The Man City ace then responded to that throwback to his Aston Villa days with a show of faith to Whelan by writing on his own story: “The pass was never in doubt son”.

Jack Grealish still has Aston Villa affection amid Man City future update

Football Insider Opinion

Given he has so much history with his boyhood club, it is no surprise Grealish is still happy to reflect on his days at Villa Park.

They are a club that have given him so much in his career, not to mention the fact that anyone would be proud to score a goal of the quality of this one.

Indeed, there have been suggestions that a potential return to Aston Villa for the England international could be on the cards in the future.

For now though it appears as though Grealish does still remain in the plans of Pep Guardiola at Man City for the time being.

Even so, nods to his time in the Midlands such as this will not dispel any expectation of a return to that part of the world further down the line.

Of course, at 29-years-old there is still plenty of time remaining in his career for Grealish to potentially make an emotional return to Villa Park in the years to come.

In other news, Aston Villa are among the clubs set to rival Everton for the signing of a Galatsaray player in January.
