Man City star opens door to January transfer after ‘huge’ Pep Guardiola reveal

Savinho would be open to leaving Man City in the January transfer window if the club decide they are prepared to entertain offers for him.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 21-year-old is keen to play more regular football, either at the Etihad or elsewhere.

Savinho has impressed Man City fans in recent weeks, with his performances impressing the spectators, particularly when picked from the start vs Brentford.

However, he has started just four of his 13 Premier League appearances this season and has yet to find the net in a league game, raising concerns about his role.

Pep Guardiola does not see the Brazil international as a regular in his starting XI, but given the interest from clubs elsewhere, he could be tempted to look for it elsewhere.

Savinho could quit Man City in January

Brown told Football Insider on 19 December that Man City could accept “huge” offers for Savinho in January given his reduced role in Guardiola’s first-team plans.

The former scout, who remains very well-connected within the game after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that the winger would be prepared to move on if City decide to let him go.

“I wouldn’t be surprised to see Savinho leave City in January,” he told Football Insider.

“He has been relegated to more of a backup role because Cherki has come in and hit the ground running, and Doku and Foden have both stepped up.

“Savinho is a top player, but at the moment, he’s not improving or making himself a regular there.

“Guardiola doesn’t see him as a starter ahead of those other players I named, so there’s every chance that if they get an offer, they could let him go.

“From his point of view, I’m sure he’s frustrated that he isn’t playing as much as he would like.

“After the effort City made to keep him at the club, he would have been expecting to be a key part of that team, but that hasn’t been the case so far.

“If the opportunity comes up again for him to leave Man City, to go and play more regular football for another top side, then it will certainly appeal to him.

“Obviously it depends on City, and whether they would be willing to let him leave.”

Man City eye top-class winger in January

Amid the ongoing speculation about Savinho’s long-term future at the Etihad, City are interested in signing a big-name winger to bolster their squad.

Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness told Football Insider on 3 December that Antoine Semenyo would love to join Man City and is interested in discussing terms in January.

Man City are increasingly likely to sign Semenyo as a result, while Guardiola is planning to bolster his squad and kickstart another title challenge at the Etihad.

Football Insider revealed on 25 November that Semenyo could stay at Bournemouth in January, with a summer move currently considered more likely.

However, given the rising interest in his signature, it would not be a surprise to see a mid-season move to one of the biggest clubs in England.
