Man City stars plagued by 115 charges fears after latest – Keith Wyness
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed the 115 charges uncertainty may be having a “subconscious effect” on Man City stars.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested the case and potential punishments will be in the “day to day conversations” of the players.
Man City’s financial charges hearing has now finished after starting on September 16 in central London at the International Dispute Resolution Centre.
The club were originally charged in February 2023 with alleged breaches covering the period between 2009 and 2018.
City, who could face points deductions and even potential relegation if found guilty, have strenuously denied all allegations.
Pep Guardiola’s side have suffered a dip in form in recent weeks as the case reached a conclusion, winning just one of their last nine games across all competitions.
115 charges case will have ‘subconscious effect’ on Man City stars, says Wyness
Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “It’s difficult to connect the two – the 115 charges and City’s bad form.
“However, I do tend to think there will be a nagging noise in their heads that isn’t direct, but will still be in their conversations day to day.
“They see it in the media, they hear it on the radio. It has a subconscious effect.

“I saw it at Everton with the points deductions, I always felt there was a subconscious impact which effects a squad in some way.
“I don’t think it’s the main reason for the decline in performances, that’s more to do with injuries – but it certainly won’t have helped.”
