Kieran Maguire: Governing body ‘concerned’ about Erling Haaland amid Man City latest
The Norwegian FA will be “concerned” that Man City superstar Erling Haaland could soon demand a cut of his shirt sales.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the recent precedent set by Bayern Munich and Canada star Alphonso Davies.
As relayed by the Daily Mail last Sunday (23 October), the 21-year-old left-back’s agent has successfully lobbied to have Davies’ shirt pulled from his national team’s online website, arguing that the player is entitled to a cut of sales.

The i reported earlier this month (14 October) that Haaland, who has made an extraordinary start to his career in England with 22 goals in 16 outings, has helped to double City’s shirt sales.
Maguire claims that City will not be concerned that their players could start campaigning for a slice of the commercial revenue generated by shirt sales.
But the spreadsheet expert argues that players’ national teams will be worried.
“The dispute between Davies was between his representatives and the national team,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“As far as Man City and Haaland, both parties will be enjoying the large number of shirt sales generated following his transfer and successful start to his City career.

“The international deals tend to be a bit more complex because they involve a changing number of players.
“But I don’t see this being an issue for Man City. Perhaps it will be more of a concern for the Norwegian FA.“
