Man City tipped to accept ‘£40m’ Julian Alvarez bid – Keith Wyness

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Man City could accept bids of around £40million for Julian Alvarez before the transfer deadline.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted he expects the 24-year-old to leave the Etihad Stadium.

Alvarez has revealed he will decide on his Man City future after the Olympic Games, where he is playing for Argentina.

Pep Guardiola responded: “Once he has finished thinking, his agent will call Txiki [Begiristain] and we will see what happens.”

Alvarez, who has been linked with Chelsea and Atletico Madrid, scored 19 goals in 54 games last term – starting in 39 of those outings.

He is under contract at City until June 2028 after extending his deal last year.

Alvarez agent ‘working overtime’ on Man City exit, says Wyness

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “He shone very brightly for a while, but now it seems it’s not quite going as well.

“I can’t help but feel there may be some personal or family issues for him to want to move elsewhere.

“I think he will be gone. His agent will be working overtime to try and manufacture a move.

“I don’t expect him to be at City this season.

“You’d be looking at somewhere around the £40million mark.

“He’s not coming off a fantastic season.”
