Man City to be ‘haunted’ by Raheem Sterling as new details emerge – expert

Man City have made a mistake that “could come back to haunt them” after letting Raheem Sterling join Chelsea.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Chelsea’s newest recruit.

Sterling, 27, joined Chelsea on a five-year deal on Wednesday (13 July), ending his seven-year spell at Man City.

The attacker made 339 appearances for the Premier League champions, registering 131 goals and 95 assists.

Kenny insists Man City have made a mistake in letting the forward leave.

“I think it is a really shrewd move from Chelsea,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He is a very experienced player and he has got better while he has been at Man City. He has turned into an all-around brilliant player.

“You know what you are going to get from him. His finishing has also improved over the last few years. It’s a great move for Chelsea and I think it’s a mistake from City.

“It could come back to haunt them if he kicks on at Chelsea and does as well there as he did at Man City.”

Sterling joined Manchester City from Liverpool in July 2015 after an impressive individual Premier League season in which he scored seven goals as the Reds battled for the title.

He issued a statement thanking City fans for their years of support just before he joined Chelsea.
