Man City to land ‘huge points deduction’ bigger than Everton’s after paperwork filed – pundit

Man City will land a huge points deduction greater than the 12 points originally handed to Everton for their 115 alleged breaches of Financial Fair Play.

Speaking in the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Tottenham and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson was adamant that Pep Guardiola’s side would land a hefty punishment after Everton’s and Nottingham Forest’s points deductions.

The Citizens have been charged with 115 breaches of financial rules between 2009 and 2018, including 54 charges of failing to provide accurate and up-to-date financial information and 14 charges of failing to provide accurate financial reports for player and manager compensation.

Football Insider also revealed (7 April) that the City Group, who own 100 per cent of Man City, registered an overall loss of £127million across all their clubs – but City made a profit of £80million.

Man City to land points deduction after ‘kicking can down the road’

A verdict on City’s supposed breaches is expected to be reached by the summer of 2025 – a much longer period of time than Everton’s and Forest’s due to the scale of their alleged crimes.

Robinson noted that English clubs’ issues with FFP “isn’t going away” and he was confident that the Premier League and Champions League holders would pay a huge price for their alleged crimes if found guilty.

“This isn’t going to go away,” he told the Inside Track podcast.

“The of amount teams that have registered losses is increasing.

“Clubs know what they have to account correctly to avoid a penalty.

“We talk about Everton and Nottingham Forest getting a points deduction, but Leicester City are the next one.

“And Man City keep kicking the can down the road, and I expect them to face a huge points deduction, far bigger punishment than Everton or Forest”.
