Man City fans have erupted at manager Pep Guardiola after a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Despite holding the majority of possession, having the most efforts at goal, and threatening Matz Sels on several occasions, City were handed a significant blow with just minutes left to play on 8 March.

The two sides, who are battling to finish third in the Premier League table, looked to be heading for a 0-0 draw before Morgan Gibbs-White found Callum Hudson-Odoi, who fired past Ederson at his near post.

Erling Haaland, who has been slammed by Man City fans this season, was almost invisible at The City Ground, managing a handful of touches after squandering early chances, with Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva also being criticised.

The defeat now leaves Guardiola’s side four points behind Saturday’s opponents, with Chelsea just a single point behind in fifth, and fans are extremely unhappy with their manager following the loss.

Man City fans have been frustrated with Guardiola for much of the 2024/25 campaign, having been knocked out of the EFL Cup by Tottenham and the Champions League by Real Madrid.

However, it was the team’s performances in Europe before facing the La Liga giants, having slipped down to 22nd in the new league phase after losing three of their eight matches.

While there is still a chance for silverware, setting up an FA Cup quarter-final clash with Bournemouth after narrowly beating Plymouth Argyle, supporters are quickly becoming impatient with the manager.

Many are already nervous about the prospect of facing the Cherries, whose form is good enough to link Andoni Iraola with a Real Madrid move, and this result will certainly not help.

It has already been suggested that Guardiola will not be in charge of Man City once the 2025/26 campaign begins, and those claims might come true following the defeat at The City Ground.

Despite all of the Catelonian’s success in England, winning six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four EFL Cups, and even finally delivering the Champions League, fans are starting to turn.

One fan labelled Guardiola as “finished” while another suggested that “new ideas” are a must at the end of the season, and the fallout on social media is only continuing to unravel.
