Man City to splash cash on Gibbs-White in January after Tottenham collapse – Le Tissier
Morgan Gibbs-White may have signed a contract extension at Nottingham Forest this summer but he may be on his way to Man City in January.
That is according to former England and Southampton striker Matt Le Tissier, who told Football Insider exclusively that he wouldn’t be surprised to see the midfielder in a sky blue shirt in the future.
Man City showed interest in Gibbs-White earlier in the summer, before signing Rayan Cherki from Lyon and Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan to occupy the number 10 position behind Erling Haaland.
As a consequence, it appeared that the midfielder would instead be on his way to North London.
Tottenham triggered Gibbs-White’s £60million release clause before Forest hit back, claiming Spurs had garnered knowledge of the exit clause illegally.
Instead, the former Wolves man committed his future to the Tricky Trees by signing a contract extension.
However, Le Tissier believes that City may return for Gibbs-White in January, citing his adaptability as a reason the Sky Blues may attempt to add him to their ranks.

Morgan Gibbs-White would bolster Man City’s title push
This article contains exclusive comment from former Southampton and England striker Matt Le Tissier.
Speaking to Football Insider exclusively, Le Tissier suggested that Gibbs-White would be a good signing for City and that he would have no issues adapting to Pep Guardiola‘s system.
He said: “I think he’d adapt to Pep’s ways, I think he could do that.
“I think he’s got enough discipline about his play to be able to play the way that Pep wants him to play.

“It wouldn’t surprise me to see him at Man City at some point.
“You have to look at what the league table looks like come January before you start thinking about that kind of thing.
“If they’re right in the mix and they feel like he could make a difference between at the end of the season, then obviously they’ve got the cash there and they could go and splash that in January and have a real go at the title if they are within a few points of the top of the table or even sat on top of the table.”
Man City could sell Rodri amid issues
Whilst Gibbs-White may be a high-profile name on his way to Manchester, an even bigger name could be on his way out.
Keith Wyness told Football Insider that Man City may sell Rodri in the near future.

The Spaniard won the Ballon d’Or in 2024, but made just eight appearances in all competitions last year.
Rodri has been plagued by injury issues, which according to Wyness are not healing in the way that City would have hoped, and his high wages could force the club to move him on shortly.
