Man City told £100m Paqueta bid ‘will be accepted by West Ham’ – expert
Man City will have to spend £100million if they want to sign Lucas Paqueta from West Ham this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former West Ham striker Frank McAvennie has claimed that David Sullivan will look to sell Paqueta for a price which was similar to Declan Rice’s £105million move to Arsenal.
The Manchester giants had a £70million-plus offer for the 25-year-old rejected by the Hammers last week and have now submitted a new £80m+ bid.
Paqueta cost the Londoners a club-record reported fee of £51million when he joined from French giants Lyon last summer.
The Brazil international signed a five-year deal upon his arrival at the London Stadium – and that contract can be extended a further 12 months by West Ham.
With Paqueta heavily courted by Man City, McAvennie believes that the Citizens will have to spend heavily to sign the Brazillian.
“Mr Sullivan will accept no less than £100m for Paqueta,” he told Football Insider.
“If City bid £80million and add another £18million on adds on then I could see West Ham accepting an offer.
“Paqueta has got a great touch, and he’s got a great awareness.

“You could see when West Ham started playing the front foot and he just come in to his own and he started to show that he is a wonderful talent.
“He’s typical old-fashioned Brazilian player that gets everyone in the stadium off their feet whenever he touches the ball, as you’re expecting him to produce something quality.”
