Man City told to sign £45m-rated Marc Cucurella after what expert has seen
Noel Whelan has urged Man City to sign “outstanding” left-back Marc Cucurella this summer after his “excellent” breakthrough at Brighton.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted he was “really impressed” after seeing the 23-year-old in the flesh at Elland Road.
According to The Sun (26 May), Brighton will hold out for £45million for Cucurella – who is wanted by Man City, Chelsea, and Tottenham ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Spain international, who is contracted until June 2026, started 35 times for the Seagulls as they secured their highest-ever top-flight finish during the 2021-22 season.
The former Getafe man cost Brighton a reported £15.4million fee last summer (2021).
Whelan suggested the south coast club would be receptive to a potential sale as they look to build their own war chest this summer.
“He’s an excellent player,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“I saw that first hand at Elland Road. He’s an outstanding attacking full-back but he can defend one-on-one as well.
“He’s quick to get up the pitch, loves to get on the ball – I was really impressed.
“I can see why clubs want to get him. He’s only been at Brighton for a year but he’s really shone through.
“Brighton would sell for the right price, as well. They’ll be relying on perhaps a big sale or two in order to have money to spend this summer themselves.
“I wouldn’t be surprised to see both him and Bissouma leave this summer.”

Cucurella, who came through at Barcelona, can also play in a more advanced left-winger role.
The 23-year-old notched one goal and one assist during his maiden Premier League campaign.
