Man City transfer news: Lucas Paqueta plan revealed after deal agreed – Sources
Man City have already paved the way for a new swoop for West Ham star Lucas Paqueta this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
City allowed midfielder Kalvin Phillips to join the Irons for a cut-price fee in January – partly because they want to foster a good relationship with the Londoners as they plot a new Paqueta raid later this year.
Pep Guardiola’s side maintain a strong interest in Paqueta after seeing their interest in the Brazil international fall through last summer (2023).
Man City have already paved the way to sign West Ham star Paqueta
Man City had agreed an £80million deal in principle with West Ham for the transfer of the Brazilian playmaker.
But an FA investigation into suspicious betting activity surrounding the midfielder forced them to abandon the transfer and turn their attention to signing Matheus Nunes from Wolves.
Football Insider revealed earlier this month (8 February) West Ham are set to discover the verdict of Paqueta’s betting breaches soon with the investigation now close to being completed.

He has played 28 times across all competitions in the 2023-24 campaign, notching five goals and six assists.
The 26-year-old is under contract at the London Stadium until June 2027 after joining for a reported £51million from Lyon in 2022.
