Man City twist could spark ‘uproar’ at Everton and Nottingham Forest – Wyness
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed there will be “uproar” if Man City are allowed to escape their 115 charges with a financial penalty.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed there must be “transparency” from the Premier League and insisted both Everton and Nottingham Forest fans have justified concerns after their points deductions last term.
The Times revealed on Monday (12 August) that Man City’s 115 charges hearing will start next month with an initial outcome to be made public in the new year.
City were charged last year for a range of alleged rule breaches, including failure to comply with the league’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) for seven seasons.
Everton and Forest fell foul of PSR last term and were docked points – with the Toffees landing two deductions for breaches in two seasons.

Wyness claimed those judgements must “have a bearing” on how City are treated if found guilty.
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I think there would be uproar if there’s a financial penalty.
“There has got to be due process, with genuine reasons published and made public if they are to let Man City off with a fine.
“Quite rightly, there are concerns about that from Everton and Forest fans.
“There’s got to be transparency from the Premier League in this process, it’s crucial for the future of the league.
“We’ve got to see the full reasons behind any decision they come to.
“Certainly, Everton and Forest felt very hard done by last season. Some of those judgements will now have a bearing on how City must be treated.
“There are some of the best legal minds on both sides, and this hearing could impact football for a long time to come.”
