Man City’s ‘bizarre’ Kane approach blasted after Romano’s fresh Tottenham reveal – pundit

Frank McAvennie has labelled the Harry Kane transfer saga as ‘bizarre’ after the striker announced he would be staying at Tottenham.

The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted to the latest on Kane.

On Wednesday (25 August) Kane took to social media to state he would be staying with Tottenham.

This came after a months-long transfer saga with Manchester City the only club to actively come in for the England captain.

Also on Wednesday, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claimed City placed two bids for the Kane throughout the summer.

McAvennie is stunned that Kane is remaining at Tottenham but claims he will give his all for the club while he’s still their player.

“The whole saga was bizarre,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Recently, you had Pep coming out and saying it would go right to the wire.

“You’re Manchester City, you have the money, just pay it, stump it up. Now Kane’s staying, I can’t believe he would be happy.

“He’s now stuck playing in the Conference League instead of the Champions League.

“A player of his quality needs to be playing in those big games. He’s been let down by the club because they have fallen so far in the last few years.

“I’m sure he’ll give his best for Spurs now he’s staying, he’s that kind of player.

“Tottenham have been playing decent football without him, I hope for their sake they can get him back and firing.”
