‘Man United alerted to Rayan Cherki availability after his Old Trafford actions’

Man United have been alerted to the availability of Olympique Lyon winger Rayan Cherki this summer, according to their former chief scout.

Mick Brown, who spent over a decade at Old Trafford during the club’s most successful period and remains very well-connected there, exclusively told Football Insider that he is on United’s radar after his performance in their Europa League clash.

With just one year remaining on his contract come June, there is a growing belief that he will be moved on this summer after failing to agree terms with Lyon.

This comes after Football Insider‘s January reveal that Newcastle were interested in signing Cherki, but would have had to pay a hefty fee to secure a mid-season deal.

A number of clubs have been now put on alert by the situation, including Man United, who are aiming to sign a new wide forward to strengthen their attacking options.

However, it is currently unlikely that Ruben Amorim will view the 21-year-old as one of his top targets amid concerns about his attitude and consistency.

Man United join Newcastle, Everton, Bayern Munich in Cherki race

Football Insider revealed that Everton want to sign Cherki, but he wants to play in the Champions League amid interest from Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment and also spent time working for the likes of Aston Villa, Tottenham and West Ham, has insisted the France Under-21 star is not one of Man United’s top targets this summer.

Man United have been made aware of his availability,” he told Football Insider.

“He was impressive across both legs in the Europa League, and those performances have placed him on their list of potential targets.

“The issue is, I don’t think he’s the type of player they’re looking for at the moment.

“He’s another spontaneous player who can do something eye-catching and then drift out of a game for the next 25 minutes before he does something else.

“It’s that consistency that will be a problem, because they need people to perform every week.

“United are looking for people who can come into the team and make a real difference, not somebody who will show up for five minutes at a time.

“You hear little things and whispers about his attitude as well, which is never a good sign.

“So he’s on their radar because he’s clearly got talent, but I’d be surprised if they go for him because they’re looking at other targets in his position.”

Ruben Amorim eyes Eberechi Eze deal after Crystal Palace latest

The left-sided forward spot in Amorim’s team has become a focus for United ahead of the summer transfer window, with a number of options on their radar.

Brown told Football Insider on 24 April that United are considering signing Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace after scouts were spotted tracking his progress.

Eze’s work under Oliver Glasner, who deploys a similar style to Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 formation, has highlighted him as a key target at Old Trafford.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Liverpool have also joined the race for Eze, but could be put off of a move by questions about his ability to step up.
