Man United are planning to sack Ten Hag after source’s reveal – pundit

Man United’s mass backroom overhaul is “another nail in the coffin” for Erik ten Hag.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former England and Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson was adamant that the likes of Sir Jim Ratcliffe do not want ten Hag, 54, at the club next season as he is “not part of the new team”.

The Red Devils have made huge changes to their behind-the-scenes team, with Dan Ashworth set to join as sporting director, football director John Murtough set to leave soon and Omar Berrada joining from Man City as their new chief executive.

Well-placed sources have told Football Insider (10 April) that United chiefs are set to make a decision on ten Hag’s future at the club before the end of the season.

Man United do not see Erik ten Hag as ‘their man’ – Robinson

However, Robinson was confident that the Dutchman will leave the club this summer as he is not seen as the board’s “man” at Old Trafford.

“With the football side of things, you can see that Ratcliffe is putting his own stamp on things,” he told the Inside Track podcast.

“You can see things are changing.

“You can’t change things on the pitch immediately because of the transfer windows and the manager that’s in charge.

“I just think that with all this restructuring and with Dan Ashworth coming in, Sir David Brailsford, [former Southampton chief] Jason Wilcox – the whole board – I think it’s just another nail in the coffin for ten Hag.

“He’s not the manager that the board want – he’s not their man.

“He’s not part of that new team.

“Ten Hag has one big job on his hands before the end of the season – convince the board that he is the right man for the Man United job.

“At the moment, I don’t see him being there much longer, certainly past the end of the season.”
