Man United star Bruno Fernandes reacts as Cristiano Ronaldo shares message
Man United star Bruno Fernandes has reacted to a message shared by former Red Devils star and Portugal legend Cristiano Ronaldo.
Fernandes was a shining light for an otherwise struggling Old Trafford outfit last term, notching 19 goals and 18 assists in 57 appearances across all competitions.
But as the Red Devils finished just 15th in the Premier League last season, Man United could need even more quality from the 30-year-old next campaign as they strive to climb the top-flight table.
Meanwhile, after last term’s woes, boss Ruben Amorim must oversee successful business in the summer transfer window.

Fernandes reacts as Ronaldo shares Sporting message
Both Fernandes and Ronaldo starred for Portuguese outfit Sporting ahead of their respective moves to Old Trafford.
Meanwhile, taking to Instagram on Tuesday, 1 July, the 40-year-old shared a photo of himself in his Sporting days, captioned: “19 years of making Portugal proud. Congratulations, my Sporting CP.”
Ronaldo’s message attracted a like from Man United captain Fernandes.
Bryan Mbeumo’s Man United arrival can help get the best out of Fernandes
Football Insider verdict
Fernandes performed admirably well to score eight goals and produce 10 assists in 36 Premier League appearances for a poor Man United outfit last term.
Bruno Fernandes stats | Premier League 2024/25 |
Appearances | 36 |
Goals | 8 |
Assists | 10 |
However, the Portugal star has never been able to emulate the return of 28 goals and 18 assists he managed across all competitions back in 2020/21.
Fernandes’ creative potential has been heavily damaged by the fact that the Red Devils have not boasted a strong frontline in recent seasons, while main striker Rasmus Hojlund scored just four goals in 32 Premier League appearances last campaign.
Meanwhile, former Red Devils chief scout Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider that Man United are close to a deal with Brentford for Bryan Mbeumo.
The Cameroon international demonstrated his exceptional attacking prowess by notching 20 goals in the Premier League for the Bees last season.
Fernandes could rediscover his best attacking form by effectively linking up with the 25-year-old at Old Trafford.
