Kieran Maguire issues Man United legal claim as Government steps in over £40m deal
Man United have made the right decision to cancel their deal with Aeroflot and will not suffer any financial damage as a result.
So says finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about United’s now-scrapped tie-in with Russia’s national airline.
United have been involved with Aeroflot for a decade and struck a six-year renewal deal worth £40million with them in 2017.

But a club spokesperson told the Daily Mail today (25 February) that the partnership has been cancelled in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
That news came after the UK Government announced yesterday (24 February) that Aeroflot had been banned from landing on British soil.
Maguire claims that United are likely safe from any legal fallout from the cancelled deal.
“It would be difficult for Aeroflot to sue Man United,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“That is especially true given that Aeroflot has been banned from the UK by the Government. They have effectively stepped in.
“Man United have done the right thing. They would suffer reputational damage if they continued the relationship.
“Their lawyers will be going through and trying to reach a discreet agreement with Aeroflot so they can both walk away from the deal.
“If Aeroflot decides to throw their toys out of the pram and litigate, then I think they would come out of this looking very bad.”

United did not fly with Aeroflot when they travelled to face Atletico Madrid on Wednesday (23 February).
Ralf Rangnick’s side drew that match 1-1 and will play the return leg at Old Trafford on 15 March.
