Man United could agree sensational ‘Marcus Rashford swap deal’ amid ‘bidding war’

Marcus Rashford could be the subject of a swap deal next summer when his loan spell at Barcelona expires.

That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes PSG could offer Bradley Barcola in a deal to sign the 28-year-old from Man United.

Rashford is not part of Ruben Amorim’s plans at Man United, and the forward was sent out on loan to Aston Villa last season and Barcelona this campaign.

Barcelona is Rashford’s number one option for a permanent move next summer, but PSG have now entered the race to sign the England international.

Marcus Rashford ‘spoilt for choice’ next summer

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes a swap deal would suit Man United, with Barcola five years younger than Rashford.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness though thinks a stumbling block could be Rashford’s intentions to permanently stay at Barcelona.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Well, the interesting news and development on that story is that PSG are claiming to be coming in here, and there could be some sort of player swap deal with Bradley Barcola, which makes sense, I think, for United.

He’s obviously a lot younger, was he? About 23, I think. And if they were to get Rashford and a player swap, that would, I think, suit United more than releasing him at the pretty low level, I think, that Barcelona had got, which is going to be about 30 million from memory.

Now, the player’s point of view, I think Rashford would much prefer to stay at Barca. I think he’s happy, but PSG is not exactly the worst option. And I think he could be spoilt for choice there. And I think there could be a bidding war in terms of least wages being offered to Rashford.”

Man United duo could boost club’s PSR position

Selling Rashford could boost Man United’s position with PSR, with Barcelona holding the option to purchase the forward for £30million.

Kobbie Mainoo could also be another home-grown talent that the Red Devils look to cash in on in the next transfer window.

Mainoo has seen little game time at Old Trafford this season, with the 20-year-old wanting to reignite his career elsewhere.
