Man United could ‘explode’ after Ralf Rangnick reveal from Sky – pundit

Noel Whelan has suggested Man United could restore their “solidarity” with an “explosive” run of wins.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the Red Devils “soothed” reports of unrest with a 4-2 win over the Whites on Sunday (20 February).

Speaking post-match to Sky Sports, manager Ralf Rangnick insisted his team gave the “best possible answer” to rumours of friction between key members of the dressing room.

The interim boss further praised the performance as “perfect with regard to maturity and unity”.

Man United face a Champions League last-16 first leg against Atletico Madrid tomorrow (23 February).

Whelan suggested a run of form could be exactly what Rangnick needs to remedy relations in the Old Trafford dressing room.

“That was what the Man United – Leeds games are all about,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“There will have been a lot of players in the Man United ranks who knew what it was all about, and they will have told the newer players as well. If they didn’t know, they knew very quickly.

“They stood strong to the task, didn’t baulk when it became a feisty game. It was really difficult conditions to play in, as well.

“I think winning games always soothes any rifts you may or may not have. All you can do to try and fix those problems is keep winning.

Putting some kind of explosive run together, which I think they can do, will go a massively long way to finding that solidarity Man United fans want to see from their team again.”
