Kieran Maguire tips Man United to rake it in through plan ‘hardcore’ fans will hate
Hardcore Man United fans may not like the “prawn sandwich brigade” – but the club can rake it in if they improve their hospitality facilities.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Red Devils’ plans to revamp Old Trafford.
The Daily Mail reported on Monday (14 March) that United are exploring various options to upgrade their ageing 76,000-eater home.

An overhaul of the South Stand and total renovation of corporate areas are being considered, while a total rebuild is also a less likely option.
Maguire claims that a dramatic makeover of the stadium’s hospitality facilities would be a big money-spinner.
“They will try to make Old Trafford more of a multi-function venue,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“Nobody likes prawn sandwiches more than Man United fans. They claim to have the largest following in the world.
“They certainly have a large following among fans who might be held in contempt by the hardcore in Manchester but do have a lot of money to spend.
“United can leverage that going forward, but the quality of the hospitality at United is starting to fall behind.
“They are conscious of the fact that they have to keep up with their rivals, and Spurs have set a new benchmark.”

Old Trafford has not had any significant upgrades since Malcolm Glazer became majority shareholder in 2005.
A re-think of the Carrington training base is also reportedly under consideration.
