Man United could sign ‘top-class’ Antonio Rudiger alternative after German update – pundit
Paul Robinson has heaped praise on Borussia Dortmund defender Manuel Akanji amid interest from Man United in his signature.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Premier League goalkeeper claimed the 26-year-old is “a top-class centre-half” who could be available “on the cheap” because of his contract situation.
According to German outlet Bild (15 March), United are prepared to offer Akanji £240,000-a-week to move to Old Trafford this summer.

It would see the Switzerland international nearly double his current £130,000-a-week deal at Dortmund, which expires at the end of June 2023.
The Red Devils have also been heavily linked with a move for Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger, who is out of contract this summer.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs if Akanji would be a welcome addition to United’s squad, Robinson said:
“Rangnick will have a lot of information about the player from his time and contacts in Germany.
“You just wonder how big a say he will have on the incomings this summer. How much pull does he have on who is the new manager? How much say does he have on new signings? We just don’t know.

“I think it has to come from the new manager, whoever that may be. They need to assess what he wants.
“Akanji is a top-class centre-half though. If they can pick him up on the cheap then it is a no-brainer in my opinion.”
In other news, a pundit has claimed Marcus Rashford may be frozen out at Man United and forced into an exit under new management.
