Man United crushed by ‘huge blow’ after Christian Eriksen latest – pundit

Alan Hutton has insisted it is a “huge” blow for Man United to lose Christian Eriksen to injury.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said that Eriksen’s return to action since his collapse at the Euros has been “incredible”.

On Tuesday (31 January), the Red Devils confirmed that the 30-year-old will be out with an ankle injury until at least the end of April.

The midfielder picked up the injury in the 3-1 FA Cup win over Reading on Saturday (28 January).

Erik ten Hag’s side secured a deadline day loan deal for Marcel Sabitzer from Bayern Munich who will join Old Trafford until June.

When asked how big of a blow losing Eriksen for such a long period is for United, Hutton told Football Insider:It is a huge blow.

What he has come back and done since the layoff he had has been quite incredible, at Brentford and now Man United.

Man United

There is no doubt it is going to be a huge blow. He is so creative when he gets on the ball, he sees things that other people can’t.

I know they have brought in Sabitzer from Bayern Munich, he was exceptional when he was at [RB] Leipzig, it has not quite worked out. Whether he goes into that sort of position we will have to wait and see. But of course it is a huge blow.
