Harry Maguire: Pundit shreds Man United dressing room after revolt – ‘it’s now on the Internet’

The Man United dressing room is in a sorry state if they have turned on under-fire skipper Harry Maguire.

So says ex-Premier League manager Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the latest revolt behind the scenes at Carrington.

The Times reported on Thursday (3 March) that Maguire’s continued selection has been privately questioned by some of his teammates.

A reported power struggle between Maguire and Cristiano Ronaldo and the handling of Jesse Lingard are also claimed to have led to unrest of late.

Some of Maguire’s recent performances have drawn criticism from the commentariat and he was benched against Watford last weekend.

McLeish insists that the report of a swell of negativity against the 29-year-old is a “sad” indictment of the United dressing room.

“If that’s the case, that’s pretty sad,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.

“He has maybe had a difficult season but the previous three or four seasons he’s been outstanding.

“He’s the captain, an England player, a great footballer out from the back, a real presence.

“I’ve not studied him enough over the past five or six weeks to say he’s not good enough.

“But it’s not just behind his back that this is being said, it’s now on the internet. It sounds like a camp that is not very together.”

Maguire has scored twice in 28 appearances this term.

United are in action against cross-city rivals Man City tomorrow (6 March).
