Man United expected to seal multiple signings after Erik ten Hag’s starting XI reveal – pundit
Alan Hutton has claimed Erik ten Hag will be looking to strengthen “all over the pitch” at Man United before the start of next season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa right-back said new signings could hinge on how the squad progresses over pre-season.
Speaking to MUTV (18 July), Ten Hag said that the Red Devils need more than 11 starting players with the number of games needing to be played this season.

The Dutchman said that United are at a “starting point” and he is still looking to add depth.
Hutton insisted the Manchester club will be looking to strengthen in all areas ahead of next season.
“I think he’ll [ten Hag] always be looking all over the pitch, I think that’s kind of the manager’s job to evaluate the squad and see where you can improve everywhere,” he told Football Insider.
“Obviously [Paul] Pogba has left, can he bring in another midfielder? What formation is he going to play? Is he going to stick with two defensive midfielders when it was Fred and [Scott] McTominay.

“I think we’ll only find out as the weeks go on how he wants to play. We know his style of football is going to be counter-pressing and high energy.
“Has he got the squad to do that? I think he’ll still be evaluating the squad and once he’s done that he can really pick the players that he needs going forward.“
