Man United fans all say the same thing after Marcus Rashford after Preston masterclass

Marcus Rashford is continuing to rebuild his reputation after hitting a milestone for Aston Villa against Preston North End in the FA Cup.

Rashford was arguably in the lowest ebb of his professional career upon signing for Villa late in the winter transfer window, with Ruben Amorim more than happy to push him towards the Old Trafford exit door.

Since moving to Villa Park, the 27-year-old has looked like getting back to his best, registering four assists in his first eight games, and earning a swift recall to the England squad under Thomas Tuchel.

Tuchel made clear that he had full faith in Rashford’s ability over the international break, starting the Man United loanee on the left flank in both of his first matches against Albania and Latvia at Wembley.

Rashford’s performances in both games were met with mixed reviews from the England faithful, but as his form for Villa goes from strength to strength, both Three Lions and Red Devils fans are being made to change their opinions.

Marcus Rashford makes difference for Aston Villa in FA Cup rout

Rashford’s four assists in his first eight matches for the Villans – five of which have seen him start on the bench – were impressive, but unlike PSG loanee Marco Asensio, he had failed to add goals to that tally.

That drought ended on Sunday, however, as Rashford netted twice within five minutes against Preston to set Villa on course for a 3-0 win, breaking his duck and sending Unai Emery’s side into the semi-finals.

A low first-time finish from Lucas Digne’s cutback was followed up by a well-taken penalty before Jacob Ramsey rounded off the scoring just eight minutes later, lifting a huge weight off Rashford’s shoulders.

Man United fans ‘love’ Marcus Rashford redemption arc

While Villa are making waves compared to Manchester United this season – in the last four of the FA Cup and quarter-finals of the Champions League – Red Devils fans are still happy to see Rashford performing.

Fans across social media expressed that they were “so happy” to see the 27-year-old score his first goal since netting for United against Everton in December, with Emery and Tuchel’s impact on him also praise.

Some supporters anticipated a backlash against Amorim for his decision to loan out a player who has quickly rediscovered his form, but Rashford’s purple patch could end up benefitting Man United in the long run.
