Man United fans rip into Rashford as footage from Man City defeat re-analysed
Man United fans are fuming with Marcus Rashford, after Man City won the Community Shield via a penalty shootout.
The 20-time Champions drew with their local rivals after 90 minutes, with Alejandro Garnacho scoring the only goal of the game for United.
But just minutes before that Rashford had a glorious opportunity to open his account for the season, which was his second chance of the game.
The England international had the ball squared to him for a one-on-one strike, but the United forward put the ball wide.
When footage was re-analysed it became clear that the 26-year-old didn’t connect properly with the ball, which clipped his shin pad.
That led to more frustration from fans, who questioned the quality of Rashford as the new season begins, especially as United went on to lose.
Man United fans frustrated with Marcus Rashford’s performance
Rashford also had an excellent opportunity in the first half of the game that he failed to take, with fans growing in frustration at his performance.
The winger was taken off before the end of the game, meaning he didn’t take part in the penalty shootout that determined the game.
But fans had seen enough from his performance to claim that he was “pathetic,” as supporters made their feelings clear about the winger.
