Finance guru: Man United fans will be livid as £11m Glazer payout confirmed

The Glazers will have angered Man United fans by handing themselves an £11million dividend at the end of a dismal season.

That is the view of finance expert Doctor Dan Plumley, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after the Red Devils published their latest set of quarterly results.

United revealed an operating loss of £21.8million for the three months ending 31 March 2022, per the earnings release last Wednesday (25 May).

The figures also showed that the Glazers have paid shareholders £11m under the terms of their semi-annual dividend, with almost all of that cash going directly to the American family.

United finished 6th in the Premier League in 2021-22 with their worst points total in three decades.

And Plumley insists that this will not go down well with the Old Trafford faithful.

“Revenue is up, which is understandable given that matchday income is the same as this time last year,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.

“But operating losses are the same as this time last year. Cost-control is an issue. Wages have been creeping up and up, and they haven’t had the sustained success to match that.

“The debt is what people will always point to with United. There are further payouts to shareholders as well, which is always going to attract criticism. It isn’t going to endear them to the fans at all.

“The on-pitch performance is hurting them. They are slipping behind Liverpool and City.”

United’s net debt has increased 11.8 per cent in the last 12 months.

They now owe £495.7m to creditors and banks.
