Finance guru: Man United have just sealed ‘monster’ behind-the-scenes appointment
Rick McGah has a monster of a job on his hands as the new head of fan engagement at Man United.
That is the view of finance expert Doctor Dan Plumley, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about developments behind the scenes at Old Trafford.
The Athletic reported on Tuesday (15 February) that McGah has been named as United’s first head of fan engagement by CEO Richard Arnold.

It is Arnold’s first senior appointment since he took over from Ed Woodward in the boardroom at the beginning of February.
United committed to a new era of dialogue with supporters in the wake of the Super League plot and recently launched a fan advisory board.
McGah’s appointment is a welcome step forward in this vein, insists Plumley.
“It’s a positive move,” the Sheffield Hallam University expert told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“We talk a lot about transparency and engagement with fans. If you get that right, you solve a lot of problems at the source.
“I’m surprised this is their first head of fan engagement. There are a few clubs lower down the leagues that do similar things with smaller resources.
“There are always challenges within it but generally it works really well. If you’re opening those lines of communication, that can only be a good thing.
“It should cover a large range of things. This is quite a monster of a job. Fan engagement for a club like United, it’s a global role.”

McGah previously worked for the school regulatory body Ofsted.
United purport have over 1billion fans worldwide.
