Man United have made ‘rare good decision’ as star player exodus begins – pundit
Nemanja Matic will be the first of many Man United players to leave the club this summer.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Red Devils’ summer plans.
On 16 April, Matic, 33, announced he will be leaving Man United at the end of the season.
He has one year remaining on his current deal and has made 185 appearances for the club.
Kenny insists this is an example of a rare good decision made by the player and higher-ups at Man United.
“You wonder how many more there will be this summer,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“There needs to be a total overhaul, we have been saying this for months.
“Matic isn’t a bad player. He has been a great servant to Man United over the years.
“But he’s not as good as he used to be and he isn’t good enough to be where the club wants to be.
“He’s the profile of player who should be moving on. It’s a rare good move from everyone involved as far as I’m concerned.
“How many more will there be? Well, there are a few players who fit the same profile.
“They all need to go, fresh start. He’s the first of many I would think.”

Matic has made 28 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions this season.
He started as his side lost 4-0 to Liverpool on Tuesday night (19 April).
