Man United have ‘two huge problems’ amid takeover news – pundit

Paul Robinson fears the Glazers will not sell Man United to Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Premier League goalkeeper said the current owners at Old Trafford “do not bow to pressure.”

As reported by the Daily Mail (18 August), British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe has formally expressed an interest in buying the Red Devils this week.

Pressure is growing on the Glazer family to sell after a dismal start to the 2022-23 campaign.

United are bottom of the Premier League for the first time in over 30 years after two defeats in their opening two matches.

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of the latest, Robinson said: “Look how long this has been going on.

“One thing we do know is that the Glazers do not bow to pressure. They do not listen to the protests. It does not seem to have any effect on the owners whatsoever.

“For Man United to move forward there needs to be a change of ownership. It looks like a tough nut to crack though.

“United have two huge problems. Off the field, the club is not ran well enough. On the field, they do not look anywhere near it.

“The attitude and the application of the players worried me against Brentford. Nobody played for the shirt. They showed no character. They folded. Where is the desire and passion from the players?

“The minimum requirement is maximum effort. Not one player can say that was the case against Brentford. United are no longer the great superpower that they were. No money is going back into that football club other than signings.

“It is a worrying time to be a Manchester United fan. It is going to take a long, long time for them to get back to where they were.”

In other news, Kieran Maguire has claimed Man United must solve an ‘outstanding’ £223million issue as takeover on the line.
