Man United hit by ‘immediate cause for concern’ in new manager appointment
Man United may be forced to spend heavily in the transfer market in order to satisfy their next manager.
That is according to football finance expert Dr Dan Plumley, who has exclusively told Football Insider about the “hidden costs” Man United will face in sacking Ruben Amorim and appointing a new manager.
Michael Carrick and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are in the race to become interim Man United manager until the end of the season.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace‘s Oliver Glasner and Julain Nagelsmann could become the next permanent Man United boss.

Man United manager will want ‘assurances’ amid ‘hidden costs’ claim
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Plumley has explained there will be many financial costs in Man United hiring a new manager.
“We talk about the sack and the compensation amount, which we can see as an absolute cost. There are a lot of other hidden costs with this, which come with a new manager inheriting a squad,” Plumley said.
“Does he want that squad moving forward? What’s his view on that squad? What are his transfer plans? What is he doing in the medium to long term?
“And if you look at all kinds of manner of things that go into the mix there financially, again, we’re talking wages. We’re talking about the amortisation aspect of contracts and the value of those contracts as they play out over time. The agent fees for new signings, new transfer fees.
“And we now know that all those things go into that squad cost ratio, which UEFA are monitoring, and the Premier League will look to monitor. And again, United are well within that ratio even based on conservative estimates. There’s immediate cause for concern, and there are going to be questions of a new manager.
“And if it is to be Oliver Glasner, he’s bound to want assurances that he’s going to be able to spend some money. And United had a big outlay in the summer, you know, and might have to do that again to satisfy a new manager.
“That’s where the other, as I say, sort of hidden costs or, you know, further down the line costs, future costs that you get with sacking managers nowadays.“

Man United’s Kobbie Mainoo stance revealed
A new manager could change the fortunes of Kobbie Mainoo at Old Trafford, amid a lack of opportunities under Amorim.
Man United have no plans to sell Mainoo, with the 20-year-old now looking to force his way back into the starting XI under a new manager.
Mainoo was wanting to explore a move away to get more game time, but the midfielder now looks set to remain at Old Trafford.
