Man United hit by new Rasmus Hojlund setback – report
Man United are reportedly taking a “cautious approach” to Rasmus Hojlund’s rehabilitation process in a new setback to his hopes of an imminent return from injury.
The 21-year-old has been out of action since United’s first preseason game of their U.S. tour, where the club played Arsenal.
The striker suffered a hamstring injury that has stopped him from being involved at the start of the season, and he was initially expected to be unavailable for six weeks.
That did give him the prospect of being fit to return to Erik ten Hag’s team after the international break, but that isn’t expected to be the case.
According to ESPN, Hojlund is going to be sidelined for longer than six weeks as the club are not rushing his recovery process.
United are concerned that Hojlund hasn’t been able to build his fitness during the summer and are therefore taking their time to ensure he’s fully fit.
Man United won’t rush Rasmus Hojlund back
Hojlund has been working in the gym and has participating in individual training sessions, but he has yet to be part of any team training.
United are going to assess the Denmark international ahead of this weekend’s fixture against Southampton, but the plan is to ease him back into action.
The 20-time champions are hoping to not repeat last season’s injury problems which plagued United’s campaign.

The Premier League giants signed Joshua Zirkzee in the summer transfer window to provide competition and depth in the attacking options, and Ten Hag has used him in Hojlund’s absence.
Hojlund scored 16 goals and provided two assists in 43 games last season during his debut campaign for the club.
