‘Man United move to sign Jack Grealish from Man City collapses’
Jack Grealish is expected to leave Man City this summer but a shock move to rivals Man United could already be closed off.
Supporters have suggested that Pep Guardiola and Grealish have fallen out, with the former Aston Villa star making just seven Premier League starts during the 2024/25 campaign.
The 29-year-old has remained on the bench for six of City’s last 10 Premier League outings, only being given 111 minutes on the pitch during that time, suggesting that this could be his final season at the club.
Football Insider understands that Grealish does not expect to be at Man City next season, confiding in those closest to him that the £350,000-a-week star has been “frozen out” by the manager.
However, Richard Keys believes that a move to Old Trafford was in the offing but is no longer on the cards ahead of the summer window, after alluding to a possible controversial transfer across Manchester.

Man City star unlikely to make Man United move this summer
Taking to X after United were beaten 1-0 in the Europa League final by Tottenham (22 May), Keys suggested both Amorim and Pep Guardiola might leave their jobs, and wrote: “What are the chances both Manchester clubs start next season with a new coach?
“And with no Champions League football, I guess that puts an end to United’s chance of tempting Jack [Grealish] across the city. I can hear the screaming denials already,” with a laughing face.
This comes after the television presenter alluded to a Grealish move in his personal blog days earlier (19 May): “I’ll leave you with a little teaser. Stand by for a cross-town transfer that would cause a real storm, but at the same time be good for all parties. This week will determine whether it happens.”
Pep Guardiola to cut their losses over Jack Grealish transfer
Football Insider verdict
Guardiola is expected to rebuild the City squad this summer following a rather disappointing campaign from the Citizens in domestic competitions and the Champions League.
Grealish could just be one of multiple high-profile stars to seal an exit, with Football Insider understanding that Mateo Kovacic is among six first-team Man City stars set to leave.
Player | Appearances | Minutes played | Goals | Assists |
Jack Grealish | 32 | 1,521 | 3 | 5 |
The Citizens could only watch on as their team were knocked out of the Champions League and Carabao Cup at early stages, also reaching the FA Cup final before being beaten by Crystal Palace 1-0.
Omar Marmoush and Nico Gonzalez both helped to restock the squad during the winter transfer window, especially with the former’s goalscoring abilities in the final third.
However, those big-money transfers did little to push Man City back in contention for a trophy this season, with the 2024/25 campaign marking Guardiola’s first season without major silverware since his first term with the Citizens.
