Man United need ‘miracle’ to secure top-four spot after ‘shocking’ performance – pundit

Something is not right at Man United after the club dropped points against Burnley on Tuesday.

That’s according to former West Ham hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after the “shocking” performance.

Man United took the lead against Burnley through Paul Pogba before being pegged back by Jay Rodriguez during 8 February’s clash at Turf Moor.

Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Ronaldo all failed to find a winner as the Red Devils lost ground in the race for the top four.

McAvennie insists Man United should not be dropping points to a relegation candidate and can’t understand why they keep dropping points.

“I said this after they drew with Newcastle in January, there is no way these results should be happening,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“In fairness to Newcastle, they deserved a draw but look at that Man United squad.

“Look at the talent that is there. These games against the Bunleys of the world should be easy wins.

“To go there and not win is shocking. Where are their attackers? Burnley can’t defend and all of these attackers can’t score.

“Something is not right at that football club. I don’t know what it is but something isn’t right.

“Is it the manager? Do the players not want to play for him? They are Man United, they shouldn’t need motivation.

“I think it would be a miracle if they got a top-four spot now.”
