Man United news: Agbonlahor demands ‘big punishment’ as controversial Diego Simeone footage emerges
Gabby Agbonlahor has slammed the Man United fans who threw objects at Diego Simeone after Atletico Madrid won 1-0 at Old Trafford last night (15 March).
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker insisted the current punishments are “not big enough” to act as a deterrent.
Simeone was pelted with drinks as he raced down the Old Trafford tunnel after his side progressed to the Champions League quarter-finals.
As quoted by the Mirror today (16 March), the 51-year-old insisted he did not even notice the missiles being launched his way.
Instead, he was focused on getting back into the dressing room and did not shake Ralf Rangnick’s hand after the game as a result.
“The problem is that the punishments are not big enough so fans will keep doing it,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“Until fans get a big punishment then it will continue. It’s not just at Man United it will happen at a lot of clubs if they let them get away with it.
“This shouldn’t happen. Managers shouldn’t have to run down the pitch to run down the tunnel to get things thrown at him.
“It’s very poor from the Manchester United fans that did that.”

Man United’s loss means they are set to extend their trophyless run to five seasons – their longest run since the mid-1970s.
They won the Europa League, FA Cup and Community Shield in the 2016-17 season under Jose Mourinho.
