Man United news: ‘Door open’ to complete two ‘brilliant’ deals after Thomas Tuchel reveal – pundit
The door has opened for Manchester United to appoint either Thomas Tuchel or Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager, according to Noel Whelan.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the Red Devils could “take advantage” of recent developments at both Chelsea and PSG.
A Man United source told Football Insider on Friday (11 March) the club are set to go “all out” in a bid to lure Tuchel from Stamford Bridge amid the Blues’ uncertain future caused by government sanctions on Roman Abramovich.

The Old Trafford board believe the 48-year-old is “by far the best candidate” in the hunt for Ralf Rangnick’s successor.
Pochettino, who saw his PSG side knocked out of the Champions League in midweek, is also on United’s list.
Whelan suggested both managers could be lured to Old Trafford this summer.
Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “I think there are two circumstances Manchester United can take advantage of now. One’s Tuchel, absolutely. He’s worked with big players at big clubs.
“The other one is the manager that’s just got knocked out in the Champions League in Pochettino. That could be the end of his spell now.
“He’s had a second bite at the cherry, it’s not worked out. He’s got knocked out by Real Madrid. I’m very sure that they’ll be looking now to improve with a different manager.
“I think that opens up the door for Pochettino.

“I think there are two ways of looking at it now. Two opportunities for two brilliant managers that work with big players.
“But they’re two big names that would not be frowned upon if they came into Manchester United on long-term contracts.”
In other news, Manchester United star “mugged off” in “the biggest surprise” yet from fall-out.
