Man United news: ‘Exceptional’ Garner set for first-team role under Rangnick successor – pundit
Paul Robinson has heaped praise on “exceptional” Man United midfielder James Garner as he continues to shine on loan at Nottingham Forest.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Tottenham and England goalkeeper said the 20-year-old has proven that “he can play at the top level” after his performance against Leicester City.
Garner starred on Sunday as Nottingham Forest beat FA Cup holders Leicester City 4-1 at the City Ground.

According to Manchester Evening News‘ Samuel Luckhurst (7 February), sources close to Garner are confident the player will be handed a first-team role under the next permanent Man United manager, who will succeed Ralf Rangnick.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of the midfielder’s future, Robinson said: “Garner has been exceptional at Forest.
“He is an example of why players get sent out on loan.
“He can play at the top level and I think he has proven that at Forest. I don’t think he’s one that will go straight into the Man United side but I think there is a first-team role there for him and he will feature next season.
“The club will have a very close eye on his development. At the moment, he is played extremely well in a Forest side that are in great form.”

Garner has contributed one goal and two assists in 26 appearances for Forest this season.
His contract at Old Trafford runs until the summer of 2024.
